Meet Living Grace...
Welcome to the Web site for Living Grace Lutheran Church. It is our hope that through this site you will learn about our congregation and its programs and be encouraged to visit us in the near future. We would enjoy meeting you.
Living Grace is a mid-size congregation of 300 members and growing. Such a size makes it possible for everyone to know each other and develop that “family” feeling about the church; yet it remains large enough that it does not become “too close” unless you invite us to do so. There are plenty of ways in which you can volunteer to serve but, again, there are enough people that no one must do everything.
Our service times are, currently, 8:15 and 10:30 on Sunday mornings. The earlier service is a bit less formal than the later one.
Holy Communion is offered at each service and all who are baptized are welcome at the Table. On the first Wednesday of every second month, we offer a Healing Service of prayer and Communion. This usually begins with a light supper at 5:00pm and the service at 6pm. There can be and are special services from time to time to mark particular seasons of the church year or special events in the life of the church. In all cases, these celebrations of worship are built around a blend of the traditional and contemporary in both word and music, appealing to a broad spectrum of worshippers.
Music is very important to us as well. You can read about the choir programs for all ages and the instrumental opportunities.
We have a Sunday School for children ages kindergarten to middle school. There is also a program for adults, the Adult Forum, which covers a variety of subjects from Bible and theology to current social issues. During the Fall and Spring we have a mid-week Bible study on Wednesday afternoons. Other special learning opportunities are also offered from time to time. Find more information on our educational programs here.
Our Youth Group involves children from middle school through high school in fun activities and learning events. Each year, for a week in the summer, they go off on a Mission Trip to be of service to others. Last year and this year it has been to West Virginia to help build or repair homes in the Franklin area under the auspices of the local Habitat program. The kids have fun, get a break from home, share and learn while in service to others.
A Health Ministry program operates under the guidance of our Parish Nurse, serving not only our congregation but the larger community as well. From guiding people in their personal health concerns to accompanying them on doctor/hospital visits to providing counselling, our Parish Nurse is there for anyone who wishes to see her. This ministry is an integral and complimentary part of the overall parish ministry conducted by our Pastor. More info here.
We support others. Living Grace is also able to report that, along with support of the larger Lutheran church in the U.S. and abroad, we also provide support for local organizations that serve our community, such as our own Food Bank, Lutheran Services of Georgia, Shearith Israel’s shelter for homeless women, Villa International Atlanta, Atlanta Intercultural Ministries, Rainbow House, and a number of others.
