Sunday School
The 2008-2009 Sunday School year begins on September 4th. Two-year-old through high-school aged classes follow "Seasons of the Spirit", a lectionary based program that corresponds with the church year. In this program children are taught through an integration of worship, learning and serving. Lessons include storytelling scripts and age-appropriate activities featuring art, music, games, and drama, addressing a variety of learning styles. What the children learn in class will be reinforced in the worship service. This is a very exciting program - one the children will love.
Sunday School begins at 9:30am with a music opening, and ends just before the 10:30 worship service.
Care and Prayer Group
This group meets on the second and fourth Tuesday night of each month in the homes of members. This group focuses on books and themes of the Bible for in-depth study and discussion. A study of First Corinthians was just completed. In October, this group will begin an in-depth study of the miracles of Jesus.
Youth Group
The Youth Group of our congregation gathers informally for fellowship fun throughout the year. As a group they have gone rock climbing, rafting, picnicking and other adventures that bring the younger ones into contact with older youth in ways supportive for each other. These same youth also support the congregation itself through service projects and individual assistance in worship and teaching. Annually, the youth travel together to participate in a service mission to another community. They have been to the Tampa area twice for a combination of construction and child services programs; to Kure Beach, NC, twice where for a week they took part in a variety of local service programs; and Pendleton County, WV, for four years to work with Habitat projects at Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity.
Young Adults
This group of persons in the mid-twenties to late thirties gathers informally and rather spontaneously to share an evening or a day of fun and fellowship. Events have centered around sporting events, cook-outs, and outdoor adventures. Many of these also serve as youth leaders, worship leaders, or as members of Church Council.
