The Reverend Dr. David E. Hardy
A Brief Biography

David E. Hardy received his Master of Divinity from Waterloo Lutheran Seminary, Waterloo, Ontario in 1972. He graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College, Hickory NC in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Government specializing in Diplomatic History. He was a member of the Alpha Psi Omega Honour Society. David received his Doctor of Divinity in 1991 at the Academy of Ecumenical Indian Theology and Church Administration, Madras, India.

David began his career in 1972 serving Parishes in Newfoundland and Ontario Canada. In 1972 through 1976 he was pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, St. John’s, Newfoundland. In 1976 through 1987 he served Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. His next assignment would become one of his most valuable experiences that he brings to his current calling. In 1987 through 1996 he was Executive Director of Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CWLR). His tenure at CLWR gave him the opportunity to travel around the globe and experience people from all walks of life and religions. While at CLWR he held many consulting positions with Lutheran World Service. This invaluable experience makes Dr Hardy quite unique among local, as well as national, ecumenical servants to the witness of Christ’s teachings.

In 1997 Dr. Hardy made his way back to the States when he was called to serve Saint Matthew Lutheran Church in Atlanta Ga. Saint Matthew merged with Saint Michaels Lutheran Church in 2004 and became the new congregation of Living Grace Lutheran Church. Now, a new chapter is beginning in David’s life long service to God with the relocation of Living Grace to Tucker, GA. A new chapter filled with excitement and intrigue.

David was born in November 1946 in North Carolina and holds dual citizenships in the United States and Canada. David is married to Marlene for 35 years and have four children; Allison, Catherine, Matthew and Michael.
